What Iranian people should worry about…

Posted in Uncategorized by iranallday on December 24, 2009

The resiliency Iranian people have shown towards the Islamic Republic has been seen world wide through social networking sites and the international community has given high praise for the Iranian peoples efforts. Through 6 months of protesting and loud chants of "death to the dictator" it seems the Iranian government has not only lost control of it's people but internally have shown how far apart government officials are throughout the last few months. Make no mistake about it all eyes must be on the government because if things continue to get out of hand the Iranian government have no choice but attempt to provoke a war to win the people back.

Nationalism is the factor that brings people together. It was nationalism that was promoted throughout the 8 year war with Iraq. Even in the United States of America when in 2003 the US Army invaded Iraq we noticed the U.S as a whole was filled with nationalism and support. However, to jump back to Iran this is a country 70 million strong and within Iranian culture the people are very sensitive towards their soil. Any type of war and the masses would stop what they are doing to protect their land. This is the same country when it went to war with Iraq had almost every father or son(s) at war. The same war that many 13 year old children put down their toy guns and picked up real guns to fight in the front lines.

So as Iranians are in the streets protesting government officials quietly sit in their palaces sipping tea and contemplate a master plan to bring a country in disarray back together. In some cases such as this one war becomes an option. As U.S president Theodor Roosevelt wrote in a letter to his friend in 1897  "In strict confidence… I should welcome almost any war, for I think this country needs one." After 6 months of standing up against opposition the Iranian people must be very careful of the governments actions because they might just put them in a tough spot.
